Drew promptly e-mailed us this morning to tell us that the wood should be arriving between 12 - 1 p.m. How exciting! We piled our son into the car and we hit the road around noon. We could not wait to get there! Unfortunately, the traffic was moving so quickly that we arrived early. Angela made a return at a store and Bryan scoped out a car wash because the car had not been washed for quite some time. So, we tried out Rob's Car Wash & Auto Detailing. It was really good and we highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Rob's Car Wash - Awesome, but terrifies our son! |
The lumber arrives on a flatbed big rig! |
Rolling up to number 8! |
All stop! Ready to deliver! |
And off it goes! Yay! |
All nice and stacked and ready to go up! |
And from the other side! |
Look how wonderful that wood looks! |
And from a different angle! |
From a distance there is our wood (as sung in the tune of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings") - Good luck getting that out of your head. |
Up close and personal. |
From across the street. You cannot even see our lot because the pile is so high! |
Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's the bones of our house. |
This little guy will lift all of that wood for the framing. Thumb not included. |
Sitting in our driveway and waiting to work! |
One last glimpse before we leave the neighborhood. |
First, Angela's e-mail to Drew:

Thanks for letting us know! We got some great pics. Should we visit again on Wednesday for more photos, or do you anticipate no changes by then? If you are interested, our blog is ournewvenicehome.blogspot.com.
Thanks again!
Angela and Bryan

You read that correctly. Framing starts tomorrow. Unfortunately, we cannot make it down there until Wednesday, but more pictures will follow when we do!
Very nice and TOO EXCITING!!
ReplyDeleteI know! We can't wait!!!!!
DeleteRight now I can only dream of seeing the wood sitting in front of the house. Excited to see it all come together!
ReplyDeleteIt will be there soon enough! Hang in there!!!!!!! Let the excitement build (and let the frustrations float away). I know, easy for me to say as I am sure that frustrations still lie ahead of us!
DeleteWhooo hoooo! Congrats on WOOD!! I'm excited for you guys! Your house will be up long before mine, and I'll get to see La Cava brick. :). I thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacey! I hope your house will move very quickly and you are in before you know it. Unfortunately, I will not have any pictures of brick. We will have all siding. But, it will look wonderful on your house I know it!
DeleteA+ on the communication from the PM. Wood dropped in a nice neat pile (made for great pics :)) and framing the next day? Unreal.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're able to scope out some new places in your future hometown!
Yes, our PM is spectacular. He has had lightning fast responses to our messages and has always been happy to give us updates both in writing and pictures. He is awesome.
DeleteIt is so much fun to explore the new town. It makes the drive so much easier on the kids.
Wow!! I can only hope I get these kinds of pictures. This process is amazing!!

You will Jennifer! Just be sure to take pictures early. It goes by so fast!
DeleteBy the way, we are now following your site. I am looking forward to seeing your progress on your new Florence!
One, thanks for the earworm. WInd beneath my wings... Ah, Bette. And two, I would be just as bananas crazy about a pile of wood, too! Congrats-- it should really get going soon.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! It really gets stuck in there! I know you will be posting pictures like crazy when the wood arrives for you. I can't wait for you! Thanks again!!
DeleteJust wait until you are able to visit again. Once they start framing, it is a mad dash! We are only able to visit our new house (baby) once a week and the changes always amaze! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait. I wanted to take today off just so that I could be there to see the first pieces go up. It's excessive, I know. But, hopefully, you only do this once! By the way, your house is beautiful!!!!!!
