If You Build It....We Will Have a House!

April 8 - Just as we told you last time, our project manager, Drew, said that our wood was to arrive today.  We never thought we could be so excited about a pile of lumber!  Well, we could hardly contain ourselves.  We decided to hold off until we knew when the wood arrived because we did not want to be there too early and miss it.  So, we waited until we heard anything from Drew about the time of arrival.  We assume that the making of our lumber went slightly better than this:

Drew promptly e-mailed us this morning to tell us that the wood should be arriving between 12 - 1 p.m.  How exciting!  We piled our son into the car and we hit the road around noon.  We could not wait to get there!  Unfortunately, the traffic was moving so quickly that we arrived early.  Angela made a return at a store and Bryan scoped out a car wash because the car had not been washed for quite some time.  So, we tried out Rob's Car Wash & Auto Detailing.  It was really good and we highly recommend it if you are in the area.

Rob's Car Wash - Awesome, but terrifies our son!
We were ready to visit the site, but Bryan and our son were hungry.  We grabbed some lunch and that is when some great pictures from Drew arrived in our inbox.  How exciting.  Check it out:
The lumber arrives on a flatbed big rig!
Rolling up to number 8!
All stop!  Ready to deliver!
And off it goes!  Yay!
We were really, really excited after seeing those pictures!  So, we finished up our lunch and shot right over to the site to take more pictures.  Who knew that a bunch of chopped up trees could make us so happy?!? Here they are:

All nice and stacked and ready to go up!
And from the other side!
Look how wonderful that wood looks!
And from a different angle!

From a distance there is our wood (as sung in the tune of Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings") - Good luck getting that out of your head.
Up close and personal.
From across the street.  You cannot even see our lot because the pile is so high!
Look, up in the sky!  It's a bird, it's a plane, it's the bones of our house.
This little guy will lift all of that wood for the framing.  Thumb not included.
Sitting in our driveway and waiting to work!
One last glimpse before we leave the neighborhood.
One last note before closing out this entry.  As we were on our way home we received one more e-mail from Drew.  Here it is...bonus points if you can point out the most exciting part!

First, Angela's e-mail to Drew:

Thanks for letting us know! We got some great pics. Should we visit again on Wednesday for more photos, or do you anticipate no changes by then? If you are interested, our blog is ournewvenicehome.blogspot.com.

Thanks again!

You read that correctly.  Framing starts tomorrow.  Unfortunately, we cannot make it down there until Wednesday, but more pictures will follow when we do!

    1. Thanks, Stacey! I hope your house will move very quickly and you are in before you know it. Unfortunately, I will not have any pictures of brick. We will have all siding. But, it will look wonderful on your house I know it!

  3. A+ on the communication from the PM. Wood dropped in a nice neat pile (made for great pics :)) and framing the next day? Unreal.

Glad you're able to scope out some new places in your future hometown!

  5. One, thanks for the earworm. WInd beneath my wings... Ah, Bette. And two, I would be just as bananas crazy about a pile of wood, too! Congrats-- it should really get going soon.

  6. Just wait until you are able to visit again. Once they start framing, it is a mad dash! We are only able to visit our new house (baby) once a week and the changes always amaze! Congratulations!!

    1. We can't wait. I wanted to take today off just so that I could be there to see the first pieces go up. It's excessive, I know. But, hopefully, you only do this once! By the way, your house is beautiful!!!!!!
